Located at Thirlmere on the original Great Southern Line, the NSW Railway Transport Museum (NSWRTM) established the Railway Heritage Centre in 1975. Today NSWRTM is the custodian of one of the largest collections of locomotives and rolling stock in Australia. The Centre is being upgraded as part of the NSW Government's Railway Heritage Strategy to conserve and present the State's rich railway history. Once the upgrade is complete, the Centre will provide visitors with a range of railway experiences including train rides, guided tours, interactive displays and facilities for events and functions.
