Historic Electric Traction offers the chance to be involved in the conservation of Sydney's rich railway heritage. This unique experience was formed by a group of Sydney based volunteers in 1997. The volunteers restore and repair the historic electric rolling stock of yesteryear and offer tours - allowing visitors to take a journey back in time. Over the years the group has worked to conserve a range of carriages dating back to 1913 - some of which go by the names of Bradfield, Sputniks, Fish and Chips and of course, Red Rattlers. These trains travelled our system tirelessly from 1926 for 66 years providing an affordable transport mode for all of Sydney's residents.
