Through projects such as the following the Office of Rail Heritage acknowledges and promotes rail heritage volunteering.

Churchill Fellowship
In partnership with the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, the Office of Rail Heritage sponsors an annual fellowship for an individual to enhance their skills and learning to support the conservation of railway heritage in NSW.

Office of Rail Heritage Volunteer Awards
Nominations for annual volunteer awards in various categories for individuals and teams are sought in April/ May by Office of Rail Heritage. Successful nominees are acknowledged at the Awards night in July at the Powerhouse Museum.
